Hacienda de las Rosas

What began as a dream in 1997 is now a reality! It all started with a trail ride on borrowed gaited horses. With that simple ride, William Holzhauer and Tammy Rimes were convinced that gaited horses were the way to go.

Owning and operating a horse ranch has been a dream of Tammy Rimes since she was a little girl. Having grown up with Quarter Horses and all sorts of ponies, she envisioned someday owning and operating a first class facility. William Holzhauer grew up in New Jersey on a dairy cattle farm and later moved to Arizona, owning a feed store and mules. When they both met and later married in California, they decided a horse ranch was a dream that they could share. After riding gaited horses on a local trail ride, they were convinced gaited horses deserved a closer look. With careful research, they became enamored with the Peruvian Paso breed. Their dream began with the purchase of the Hacienda de las Rosas Ranch in Ramona, California.

During recent years, Ramona and the Southern California area have become one of the fastest growing areas for wineries and vineyards. William began research and took viticulture courses at UC Davis and decided that Hacienda de las Rosas will also be a fully bonded winery and vineyard. Specializing in red wines, particularly those of Spanish origins, is his dream for the ranch, as well.
