ZXQ Vineyards is located in San Diego’s San Pasqual Agricultural Preserve on Highland Valley Road.

The owner, Andrew Klotz (you can call him “Andy”) moved to this area in 2002.

At that time, the property was planted almost entirely with Hass Avocados.

In 2007, the Witch Creek and Guajito fires scorched most of the property and destroyed the main residence.

After rebuilding, multiple factors contributed to the decision to remove most of the damaged avocado tress and replace them with grape vines.

Andy studied Viticulture and Enology as an undergraduate at U.C. Davis in 1977 during his pre-veterinary studies.

As an undergraduate, his dorm building also housed students with family names like Heitz and  Phelps. (Those guys brought some pretty good wine to the parties!)

Little did Andy know at that time they he would return to viticulture and enology all these years later.

Highland Valley Vineyards is a boutique micro winery perched on the edge of beautiful Highland Valley in the San Diego foothills. On our hillside vineyards, we grow Bordeaux variety grapes and together with other fruit carefully selected, we hand style robust red wines.
Bodybuilding and gymnastics – equipment and apparatus germany company Weimar and Thuringia cialis leg pain remedy joint preparations in bodybuilding – support for the academy of new masters.
In 2007 we acquired our property in Highland Valley and in 2009 began construction on the winery and vineyard. Grapes have been grown in this valley for over a hundred years. As a nod to that long history, we named our vineyard/winery Highland Valley Vineyards and built the winery in 1920’s craftsman-style design.

We blend old craft with new technologies to hand style wines of character and distinction. Our special interest is big red wines with full body, a great finish but retaining nice fruit and nose. We have sourced our grapes from here in San Diego (South Coast), Mexico, Paso Robles (Central Coast), Amador County (Sierra Foothills), and Dry Creek Valley (Sonoma County North Coast).

Nestled in Highland Valley on the west end of Ramona we started our vineyard in 2010 — 4 years after we moved into the house we built. As native San Diegans, we love the outdoors and landscapes of Ramona. We have learned a lot about growing grapes; the saying is true that “you can’t make good wine with bad grapes”. We’ve spent a lot of time learning from other vintners how to create a healthy vineyard. Our move into wine making was a natural progression for us; investing and learning from fellow vintners in the Ramona valley.

Come visit and enjoy our Italian and Spanish varietals, selected to match our terroir and climate. Relax in the quiet country atmosphere and taste our wine that has been barrel aged for 2 1/2 plus years. Our mission is for you to have the best wine tasting experience in the valley.

Overlooking the beautiful Highland Valley of Ramona there are about 4 acres of grapes that enjoy the breeze, which blows most of the day.

The Aglianico grape, (pronounced “A-ya-nicoâ€), originated from the word Hellenic, Ellenico in Italian, means, “from Greece.â€ Around the 1500ad its name transformed to Aglianico. In Italy, Aglianico is considered the Barolo of the south.

Our Aglianico grapes were first planted in early 2007. Approximately, 2000 vines were planted both on the east and west sides of the vineyard. Followed, was the Nebbiolo, planted only on the east side.

In 2008 and 2011 we added the Aleatico grapes. We produce two kinds of wines from this grape: a dry wine and sweet dessert wine, both with incredible aromas.
We produce a small amount of the dessert wine by using the ancient method, using sun-dried Aleatico grapes with 40% brix.
Wikipedia claims that, “Aleatico may very well be the most ancient wine grape.â€

Before the Romans times, the Greek settlers brought the first Aglianico grapes to Naples, Italy (Nea Polis or New City). From there, because of its particular characteristics, the Romans adopted the grape to make the very first commercial wine, the Falerno and exported it in the whole Roman world.

Recent studies that were made on the skin of the Aglianico grapes, have shown unique preserving capabilities.

The Nebbiolo is a grape mostly grown in the northern Italian region of Piemonte.
From the Nebbiolo grapes, the Barolo wine is made and it is one of the most coveted Italian wines.

Hill Top Winery History

The Schimpf family purchased the ranch in 2006 with the intention of enjoying the country life after a career of creating successful businesses and building throughout California. This began the journey into farming and the art of winemaking.
Shortly after purchasing the ranch, the Schimpf family established HTR, LLC which stands for Hill Top Ranch, one of the founding ranches in Valley Center area. The owners decided to plant Cabernet and Merlot grapes on the northern facing five-acre section of the property partly due to its great pairing of the soil composition and limited water needs, but mostly due to their enjoyment of wine blends.
January 16, 2013 Hill Top Winery’s administrator permit was issued which authorizes an increase in the allowed area of certain detached accessory agricultural structure buildings. This was one of many steps taken to move forward with the owner’s vision to expand the wine facilities production capacity and maximize the potential of the vines already in the ground.
January 17 2017 our Tasting room and event center was build opened.

What began as a hobby turned into something more. The adventure began when Mike’s daughter, Cassie, decided to get married at Cordiano Winery in 2008. Its Italian owner convinced Mike to plant some vines. A few vines turned into 3,000 vines. Mike soon realized he needed help. That’s when he recruited his son-in-law Nelson to join him. For three years, they spent most days in the vineyard, caring meticulously for each vine. Soon after, Mike and Nelson built a 1,600 square foot cellar to store the wine he anticipated. From the beginning, Mike and Nelson realized they needed advice on every aspect of growing, harvesting, and fermenting their grapes. They sought the counsel of neighbors with established vineyards, among them, Cactus Star Vineyard, Highland Hills Winery and Kohill Winery. The owners shared their valuable knowledge and answered endless questions, ultimately empowering Nelson to turn their hobby focused grapes into award-winning wines.

Monserate Winery began with a desire to preserve the beauty and integrity of Gird Valley.  For 56 years, the beautiful 116-acre property was a public golf course, dotted with 100-year-old oaks and towering sycamore trees.  After falling on hard times, the golf course closed.  We had a vision to revitalize the land and create something incredible that would also enrich the lives of the surrounding community, and thus, Monserate Winery was born.  We have been hard at work to bring this vision to life since 2016 and have made a lot of progress. Today, Monserate Winery boasts breathtaking vineyards, tranquil lakes and spectacular scenery.   As we continue to grow and expand our operations, we stay true to our original vision:

COMMITMENT

Strive for excellence in everything we do.

CONSERVATION

Preserve the beauty and integrity of the land.

COMMUNITY

Give back to our neighbors, near and far.

Recently named **Top Urban Winery by San Diego Magazine**, Gianni Buonomo Vintners continues to gain attention by earning gold and double-gold medals in competitions from coast-to-coast.

Located on Point Loma in the coastal community of Ocean Beach, the winery and tasting room is located just two blocks from the beach.
It’s an exciting destination for both locals and tourists alike.

Grapes are sourced from some of Washington’s top vineyards (Rattlesnake Hills AVA) for the **Gianni Buonomo label**.

Grapes for the **Gianni California label** are sourced from California’s Sierra Foothills AVA both from El Dorado and Amador Counties.

Gianni also features a line of whites under the **Gianni Bianco** label. (Lodi AVA)

Of course, the experience wouldn’t be complete without some bubbles. Under the label **Gianni Spumante** is a lovely Extra Brut California sparkler.

**Gianni Buonomo Vintners** has also gained notoriety for working with some rare varietals. It is the only winery in the US to produce both Blaufrankisch and Charbono.

All of the reds are fermented and barrel aged on-site at this beach winery.

Taste through the whole line-up, or simply chill with a glass of of your favorite.
Cheese and snacks are available, or you may bring in your own.

Come and see what all the buzz is about this place!
